I find the Pathfinders are fantastic at low volume, and become progressively crappier as the volume and gain go up. (on both my Pathfinders I have removed the clipping diodes and replaced the P/S electrolytics) When I attend our weekly jam-session, I just use the PF-15 and a small, (4) pedal-board. I looked up the technical "white paper" on the output transistor, and it actually is more efficient, about 17 watts before clipping, at a 4-ohm load. So to accentuate the jangle when I want it, I have a Jensen "Vibranto" 12-inch 8-ohm in a 1X12 open cab to go with the 8-inch 8-ohm internal Bulldog.

One more mod a player can do is bridge the traces on circuit board that the external speaker jack and internal speaker jack are soldered to, because the external speaker is wired to a finger jack as an "either/or," not "in addition to" as we are used to with traditional Fender amps.
I also clipped the LEDs, but I left my treble capacitor as is, and have not done the rest of the mods the OP has, since among my guitars I have a Rick 12, to keep the jangle. I also really enjoy my Vox Pathfinder 15R for home practice, small rehearsal, and small gigs.
